Sale conditions of wood are specified by the regulation of Director – General of the Sate Forests.
Within the framework of the individual sale , the foresters try to meet the fast growing demand, because more and more people use wood in order to heat their houses. Contrary to general opinion, these are not only village people, even though they prevail among recipients. The growth of firewood demand is the result of occurrence of new housing estates built in the suburbs of large agglomerations, where houses are usually equipped in fireplace heating installations.
Firewood is not only the most ecological heat source, but also is much more attractive in respect of relation of price and electric efficiency, rather than cola, oil, gas or electric power.
In recent years, the Sate Forests increased the sale of firewood of one third – up to over 4 million cubic meters annually. Some of customers choose already prepared and cut into pieces wood, the others very willingly obtain it by themselves after arranging all details and fulfilling particular safety conditions, and after paying the fee; that concerns mainly so called "thinnings". Such a raw material is very cheap, that is why many people from village areas profit from such possibility.

AKCJA "DRZEWKO ZA MAKULATURĘ"
Poznaniacy, tak jak w latach poprzednich będą mogli wymienić makulaturę na... sadzonkę.
21 października rusza akcja „Drzewko za makulaturę”. Każdy kto przyniesie w tym dniu do Starego Zoo 5 kg makulatury otrzyma jedną sadzonkę. Mamy nadzieję, że w tym roku uda nam się pobić kolejny rekord. W ubiegłym roku zebraliśmy aż 40 ton makulatury.
Zapraszamy wszystkich 21 października pomiędzy godziną 10 a 14 do Starego Zoo. Odbiór makulatury odbędzie się przy wejściu do ogrodu zoologicznego, natomiast sadzonki będzie można otrzymać przy Grocie. Jedna osoba będzie mogła maksymalnie otrzymać pięć sadzonek.
W tym roku sadzonki, które dla Was przygotowaliśmy pochodzą ze szkółki leśnej Nadleśnictwa Kościan. Do wyboru m.in. żywotnik zachodni odmiana Brabant, który wyrasta na wysokość ponad 3 metrów, żywotnik zachodni 'Smaragd' czy tez cyprysik Lawsona polecane na żywopłot, ponadto lipy, jodły, brzozy, modrzewie, jarzębiny i świerki.
Będzie można liczyć na pomoc leśników, którzy doradzą gdzie sadzić rośliny i jak je pielęgnować. A o tym jak segregować śmieci powiedzą pozostali partnerzy akcji, m.in. Stena Recycling. Dodatkową atrakcją będzie z pewnością bliskie spotkanie ze zwierzętami, które zamieszkują teren Starego Zoo.
Akcja "Drzewko za makulaturę" tradycyjnie już organizowana jest przez "Głos Wielkopolski", Stenę Recycling, Regionalna Dyrekcję Lasów Państwowych w Poznaniu oraz Dyrekcję Poznańskiego Zoo.
